In general, Maldivians who enter Thailand under the 30-day visa-exemption scheme for the purpose of tourism are NOT eligible to apply for other types of Thai visas while in Thailand. However, if (s)he enters Thailand under the said scheme and unfortunately experiences sudden serious illness and is required to be hospitalized in Thailand, which is expected to exceed the length of stay permitted, (s)he may contact the Thai Immigration to request for the extension of stay by presenting relevant proof, including, among others, an original official medical report issued by the hospital, confirming the illness and expected period of medical treatment. For more details on the extension of stay, please visit https://www.immigration.go.th
